Welcome to our new Motorhome site within the beautiful grounds of Garrison House.  Our site opened in June 2021 and is already proving very popular with motorhome and camper van users who have described our site as ‘A hidden gem in a stunning location’!

Garrison House was built in 1745 by Captain Crawford of the Revenue Cutter ‘Royal George’ for his officers and crew.  In 1908 arts and crafts architect Robert Weir Schultz remodelled the house and gardens including the Schultz Sunken Garden which attracts many visitors, enjoying our stunning rose garden, offering colour and fragrance along with our delightful lily ponds.

Located within the heart of Millport, our site provides the ideal location from which to base your visit to our amazing island.  From here you can enjoy walking, cycling, bird watching, golf and fishing along with taking the time to visit our Museum of the Cumbraes, Cathedral of the Isles and The Robertson Museum and Aquarium at the Field Studies Council.  NB All places of interest are currently subject to Covid restrictions in place.

During your stay with us, enjoy the many café’s (including one on your doorstep within Garrison House & Courtyard) and bars along with gift, craft & clothes shops, bike hire, gin distillery and much more.

Please note that there are no toilet/shower facilities present on our site. However, Garrison House offers toilet facilities, during opening hours and there are public toilets nearby.

More Information

The Isle of Cumbrae – referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Clyde’, is only an hour drive from Glasgow and an 8.5 minute ferry crossing from Largs, to bring you onto our beautiful island to enjoy all that it offers.

Our dog-friendly new site, which is open all year round, offers several service bollards, an Elsan Point for black waste and grey waste disposal facilities.  We also offer fresh water and facilities for your recycling. Our pitches are £20 per night (Mon-Thurs) and £25 per night (Fri, Sat & Sun) and all amenities listed are included within this price.

Arrival onto the site is from 1pm with a leave time on your day of departure of 12 noon.  We respectively ask that no loud music is played on our site and the use of BBQ’s is not permitted at present. 

The entrance into the grounds which you need to use is off Clifton Street which is first right after you pass Garrison House, if heading west.   The entrance is approximately 50 metres up Clifton Street, on your right. Once in the grounds, turn left, as instructed by the signage displayed and then right to the motorhome site. All bays are numbered and you will be provided with your bay number at the time of booking.  We strongly recommend, to ensure you are not disappointed, booking prior to your arrival.
