Community Toilets

Overview of Cumbrae Toilets

On the scenic Isle of Cumbrae, the provision of public toilets is key to accommodating both residents and the many visitors who come to explore the island. These facilities are conveniently located across the island, ensuring that they are easily accessible to everyone and enhancing the overall visitor experience.

The Cumbrae Cludgie Initiative

The “Cumbrae Cludgie” initiative was a past project aimed at enhancing the standards of public toilets throughout the island. Although this initiative has since concluded, it focused on upgrading and maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and accessibility of the public toilet facilities. The project underscored the community’s commitment to public health and sanitation, crucial for an island that draws significant tourist attention.

The Toilet Trail

Aligned with the efforts of the former Cumbrae Cludgie initiative, the Toilet Trail is an innovative feature on the island. This trail guides visitors to various public toilet facilities, ensuring easy access during their travels around the island. Each stop on the trail is well-maintained, reflecting the legacy of the Cumbrae Cludgie initiative in promoting cleanliness and convenience for all who visit.

Toilet Upgrade

Thanks to funding secured through Highlands and Islands Enterprise and North Ayrshire Council we have been able to upgrade our Croc Rock Public Toilet Block to an extremely high standard, for which we thank local tradespersons for all their hard work.

To assist with the ongoing costs involved in the running and maintaining of these facilities, Croc Rock is the first of our blocks to have installed a payment system, with a charge of 40p.

We hope you will appreciate and understand that this is necessary to allow us to continue to keep all toilet block facilities on our island open to locals and visitors alike.

Many thanks for your continued support.
